Getting Ready for a Wax

The hair needs to be at least a quarter of an inch. If the hair is too short it will break off.

If you are getting any body waxing done, exfoliation the day before is beneficial.

Avoid using lotions the day of your service.

If you’re worried about pain take one or two Advil an hour before your appointment.

Who Should Not Wax?

You should talk to your skin professional if you have ever had any of the following medical conditions, treatments, or have taken any of the following medications:

          Diabetes

          Warts

          Cold Sores

          High Blood Pressure

          RetinA, Retinol

          Dermal Abrasions

          Microderm

          Accutane

          Varicose Veins

          Chemical Peels

Who Should Wax?

If you have unwanted hair that you don’t want to shave you should get it waxed. Anyone can get waxed. Men and women and all ages.

Waxing

Waxing vs. Shaving

Waxing is a great alternative to shaving hair that you’re uncomfortable with. Waxing removes hair from the root, unlike shaving, therefore it lasts longer for hair to grow back. And the more you wax, the more you damage the hair follicle which will thin out hair growth over time.

How Often Should You Wax?

The time in between waxing services depends on your hair growth. Typically once a month but it might be less for someone with thick, coarse hair & may be longer for someone with thin hair. Remember if the hair is too short, the wax will not be able to remove all of the hair.

Bikini vs Brazilian

A bikini wax removes hair that would be visible in a swimsuit. A Brazilian wax removes more hair than a bikini wax. The Brazilian removes everything from front to back.

Does Waxing Hurt?

Waxing does not feel good because you are pulling hair out from the root. (But the long lasting results are amazing!) Depending on your pain tolerance and what part of the body you are getting waxed will determine how much it hurts. Certain areas of the body are more sensitive than others. People who get waxed regularly experience less pain because they have caused more damage to their hair follicle and essentially thinning out their hair.

*Women who are pregnant or on their cycle will be more sensitive.

*If you are worried about pain, take one or two Advil an hour prior to your appointment.
